Child Development Tracker

Enter your baby's birth date. We work out their age, corrected if they were born early, and show the milestones most children reach by then.

40 if born at term

General information only, not medical advice. Ask your doctor or midwife.

How this works

Formula: Age = today − birth date. Corrected age (born before 37 weeks) = age − (40 − weeks at birth) weeks, used until age 2.

  • We count your baby's age in days and months.
  • If your baby was born before 37 weeks, we also give corrected age by taking away the weeks they arrived early. Corrected age is commonly used for milestones until about age 2.
  • The milestones are the ones the CDC lists for its checkpoints from 2 months to 2 years. They are skills most children, about 3 in 4, show by that age.
  • Children develop at their own pace. If you have a concern, or your child loses skills they had, talk to your doctor.

Questions

My baby hasn't done one of these yet. Should I worry?

Not necessarily. Each child is different. Mention it at your next check-up, or sooner if you are worried.

Should I use corrected age?

For babies born early, doctors usually use corrected age for development until about age 2. Ask your doctor.

What is the most important warning sign?

Losing skills your child once had. Tell your doctor straight away.
